The FBI discovered a suspicious envelope sent to Sen. Patrick Leahy, a Vermont Democrat, and said it appeared to contain anthrax. The Leahy letter was similar to anthrax-contaminated letters sent to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, a South Dakota Democrat.
